The first Panda update was Panda 1.0,  Established on February 24, 2011. Wrote about this update from Google's Amit Singhal and Matt Cutts :
"In the last day or so we launched a pretty big algorithmic improvement to our ranking - a change that noticeably impacts 11.8% of our queries - and we wanted to let people know what's going on. This update is designed to reduce rankings for low-quality sites—sites which are low-value add for users, copy content from other websites or sites that are just not very useful".
So target of this update was : Quest low quality and copy content sites then giving a good punishment .

By this significant algorithm-update   the number of search results pages has been affected. Among the affected sites most of them were article directories and content farms. You can see 25 biggest losers from Panda 1.0 update .
